Happy Easter…

Hope the Easter Bunny found you.. and left you some goodies! Image

Photo taken Easter 2011 at the Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba

This is my 4th Easter without heading down to the Woodbine Beach in Toronto.  My old church (the Rez) heads down to the beach to watch the sunrise on Easter morning.  I hope you guys had fun…here in Nunavut the sun is rising about 5:17am so I’m not going to be getting up to watch it! (that’s way too early…) Instead I’ll celebrate with friends in Iqaluit!

Matthew 28:6-10

6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

>Catching up…

I had a fabulous Easter Sunday with Conni and Brent and their family and friends!  I arrived and had a bit of ‘homework’ to work on… so sat in the sun on their porch and soaked it all in!  It was great to be part of a family on such a ‘family’ type weekend!!  Conni has become my ‘Manitobian’ Mum!!

Yummy dinner… Conni thanks for preparing an amazing meal… the stuffing from a box was soooo darn good!!! (as well as everything else!)

Conni made a new cake with lemon icing… and it was and angel food cake—soooo great!!! 🙂

After dinner we all went outside to the ‘percussion project’ made by Joe and friends… in the fall… it’s way fun!!!

Brent and Conni’s Mum are getting their groove on…

Here I am… notice how EVERYONE else has left? that’s because I make great music on my own… and they just wanted to stand back and enjoy it… (well maybe that’s not the real reason– maybe this girl just doesn’t have the ability to keep a beat going..or join one that’s already started… I have always marched to my own drum beat! lol)

Now for some of the random shots of the day….

Pussy willows have always been this magical mystical thing for me… my first memories are tied to spring walks with my mum and grandma, cutting them down…and then taking in bunches of them for my teachers… (weird what you remember eh?) This probably happened in like kindergarten to about grade 2!

This is a ‘rose hip’?…
my Manitoban mum told me like 3 times.. but I still can’t remember–sorry MB Mum!!

We went walking over to where the remnants of a burned down house use to stand.. there was all kinds of metal, glass and random stuff throughout the forest floor… I was tryin to go see the creek..but couldn’t… so Conni took a photo of me… and I took one of her… even though we were quite close… it was pretty full of trees!

Some of the random things from years gone by…

Dilly… at the creek…

Joe found some ‘treasures’ at the old house site… and brought back these metal things to add to the percussion project!

My MB Mum and I waving on the road….

…cute kitty…it’s really too bad cats make me sneeze~!

Conni asked me to take a few photos of her family for me… so here are some of my favs from that short session… (there’s more on a disc for you Conni!)
Getting ready to JUMP!!!!

Put your hands in the air… and JUMP!!!!

Dear Conni and Brent..

Thanks again for opening your home to me over the past year and half!
Your friendship means so much to me!  Keep in touch…  🙂 luv, Sarah

…the Easter Bunny came to my OFFICE!!!

…and left this nifty Water Bottle!
Ok, so it wasn’t the EASTER BUNNY after all….
Red River College has been named one of Canada’s 50 Greenest Employers for 2011…

In an email from RRC’s  president explained what all the excitement was about…and WHY we all got water bottles!

“We’ve received this prestigious honour thanks to our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of College operations, incorporate sustainability into our research and academic programming, and engage staff and students in more eco-conscious behaviour.

Launched in 2007, the Canada’s Greenest Employers competition is organized by the editors of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. This special designation recognizes employers that lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness in their organizations. These employers have developed exceptional earth-friendly initiatives — and are attracting people to their organizations because of their environmental leadership.

RRC is one of only two Manitoba organizations to be named to this year’s Greenest Employer list (along with New Flyer Industries), and one of only five post-secondary institutions across Canada.”

I must admit it is really neat to be employed in a place that is so environmentally aware!
Congrats! Red River…
here’s to continuing this GREEN trend…
Keep up all your hard work!

You never know…

>…who you might run into when you are at the Forks!

On Saturday, I ran into the Easter Bunny…

I know.. who could resist the ‘creeper’ in the white bunny suit? I certainly couldn’t…after he waved to me….

and had to get a photo..and I got given DARK chocolate!
My mum sent me an awesome Easter box with an amazing assortment of goodies, some to eat, some to read…and some stuff for my kitchen! (thanks Mum)
Hope all my friends and family had a fantastic Easter weekend, and the bunny found you as well!
luv, Sarah

>Happy EASTER!!!

It’s funny how that bunny always tends to find me even though I move around quite a bit!!  When I was up north… he even stopped in at Pangnirtung (via Canada Post!!)  This year was no different… although that darn bunny woke me up at an un-godly hour of 7:05AM on a SUNDAY..(when church wasn’t until really I didn’t need to get off the ‘airmattress’ until 9ish…but well it was I didn’t complain too much!)

The other fitting thing in this photo.. is my Costco membership.. I think I had the world’s SHORTEST membership… I am SOOOO not impressed with them… or their parking lot attendant’s that walk away from the ‘automatic’ cart collecter machine thingy… (as your car is backing up…) because apparently that might be bad news for Milo…. and who would have thought 3 scratches would cost sooooo darn much to get fixed…. argh!!!  ‘welcome to car ownership I suppose’….but needless to say.. I’m not a membership of COSTCO and NEVER will be again…. and still need to write a letter about it! (but got my membership money returned…)
