>Today I got a Birthday/Christmas present from my friend Ryan… he taught me how to use a car-wash… now before you all start think I’m a crazy girl or something… I’m not! Remember back HERE when I told you about my fear of car washes? Then I had found THIS place… but I really wanted to conquer the fear, and learn to do it myself… and this is that story!
After lunch, with our left overs… Ryan is all smiles for this adventure!
Here I am…excited, but crazy nervous…with that irrational but REAL to me fear that MILO will loose his windshield in a car wash!
All that driving to Portage la Prairie, has made Milo really, REALLY dirty!!!
As the car was sprayed with water… I took some photos… and snapped this.. I think it distracted me enough… so I actually started to sort of ‘enjoy’ the car-wash!
mmmm the smell and fun colours of the soap, wax and what-not!
…all washed away…
TADA!!! look at Milo.. he’s soooooo SHINY!!!
Thanks, Ryan… I think I can possibly do this on my own now!!
..and wouldn’t you know it.. just after this…it started to snow, and the roads got all icky, slushy… so Milo isn’t so shinny, but at least I have the confidence to take him through on my own!!
At times I let my laundry pile up a bit… So every once and awhile I get four loads to do in one week! (before you go how can a single gal get FOUR loads? let me explain… I had 2 sets of sheets to do (with 2 duvet covers); all my towels; along with my regular clothing laundry!…) Normally this isn’t that big of deal. I started EARLY around 7pm…(where usually I start about 10pm)…and I could use the machine on my floor (can’t use those after 9pm). For the other THREE loads I went down to the ground floor, where I can do three loads and it’s open 24 hours a day! Everything was set, I got them all in… set my iPhone timer and headed back to watch a bit of TV.
The timer went off…
Trouble #1…I went first to my floor(the 12th) and realized that I couldn’t put that load in the dryer, as someone else’s laundry was still in there… (but the machine wasn’t going). My one laundry rule is NOT to touch someone else’s laundry (even though it is clean) because frankly I wouldn’t want someone to touch MY laundry. So I left that load still wet in the washer..and headed down to the main floor.
Trouble #2…I went to the ground floor and all my three loads were done. But there was only ONE dryer available the other ones had stuff in them, going for another 43mins or something. So I put one load in that dryer. And put the other two loads of wet laundry in my basket… My plan was to take the elevator to the 10th floor, drop off one load in that laundry room, and then walk to the 11th floor and drop off the 2nd one.. then walk up one more floor to my floor and chill until the 60mins is up to go collect it.
Trouble #3…I go to the 10th floor laundry.. and I’ve got a problem… laundry is in the machine there… No problem, I’ll just go down the stairs to the 9th floor and put my load in that dryer… (I’m still holding a laundry basket with TWO loads of HEAVY wet laundry) but off I go to the 9th floor and I drop off my towels there..as they where the heavier of the two loads in the basket! I walk up to the 11th floor, relieved to find that I could throw my laundry into that dryer…and walk back up to the 12th floor.
Trouble #4… Back on the 12th floor no one had picked up that load of laundry yet, so I put it in the basket and think… I could take it down to the 8th floor, because I had laundry on the 11th and 9th floors a stranger had it on the 10th floor… so I think to myself… yep that’s a good idea… then I’ll have it all done pretty much at the same time! So down I walk those 4 flights of stairs… and TROUBLE it’s being used. I go to 8th floor.. and well it was being used… so I go down ONE more flight… to the 7th.. JACKPOT! I put it in.. and then walk up the 5 flights of stairs back to my apartment… when I got there I had to remember what floors I ended up on!
Collecting the laundry went a bit crazy too……
11th Floor: Walked down rescued that load, folded it, and brought it back up… to my apartment!
DURING: (didn’t get an acutal shot of the wash..but the drying on the inside!)
—-apparently cop cars need to be washed sometimes too! 😉
I must say… I’m happy to report that Milo still has his windshield in-tact!! 🙂
>Coming home from work today I noticed a really really really odd sight…. and I’m going to share it with you… I was coming into my apartment building..and standing in between the doors is this middle-age lady… in a WHITE bathrobe. I think to myself that’s a bit weird. But then this car drives up, she rushes out, grabs a book from the driver and rushes back into the building. At this point I was inside looking for my keys–she had hers out and ready to use, apparently there wasn’t many places her keys could hide in her outfit!
We then entered the building together, I had shared the elevator with this lady before…she starts talking as we wait for the elevator to come. She’s very excited about this new book, it’s a signed copy and it was so cheap only $20 you know. I say, “oh, what is the title” and then she gets a bit shy and doesn’t really tell me but tells me how exciting it is that it’s signed. (a bit off).
I’m not really sure of these ‘unspoken’ rules about laundry that go on in my building..but just so you all know out there… I fully intend to be FULLY clothed when I visit the laundry room, I’m not quite ready to join the “undressed, NEED a FULL load to do my laundry club!”
>This morning I was leaving my apartment fairly early… (7:50am) to go to the airport to meet two friends from Pangnirtung—they were flying in and had brought my Canada Goose Parka and my Australia Photos…(ok back to the story!)…
I was waiting at the elevator and I hear this whistling coming from the end of the hall where the laundry room is— I look over… and well I see this guy, walking towards me, with 6 pak abs AND boxers on, barefoot…holding laundry soap….I do this double TAKE…. and the elevator opens… I walk on it and I mumble to myself, “am I still dreaming?” and then as the doors close I hear laughing….
So apparently there’s a guy on my floor that does laundry EARLY in the morning on Saturdays… and apparently does ALL of his clothes, so that he just walks barefoot in the halls in his boxers whistling…
hmmmmmm this apartment living might just have gotten A LOT better!!!
