Yesterday I travelled to Peterborough to attend my friends Emily and Christopher’s wedding. Emily and I met during the summer of 1997 during a Leadership-in-Training(L.I.T.) Program at a summer camp and quickly became friends. Even though Emily and I have never lived in the same cities at the same time…she’s managed to help me find my first apartment in Toronto, my first job in Nunavut after finishing my Masters..the only thing left on the ‘list’ is a man. Emily I’m still waiting! Emily and I have also spent a few New Years Eve’s together… I met Christopher at some point in early 2010, I was in Ontario for a weekend at another friend’s wedding. Emily and Christopher drove to Toronto from Peterborough to have some sushi with me! Christopher is one of those people that after meeting you feel like you’ve known them forever. Since that day…I’ve crashed on their couch many times when I’m back in the area.
But this story is all about Emily and Christopher! They had such an amazing, beautiful evening wedding. After the ceremony we all put on our coats to stand in front of the church with sparklers so they got some awesome shots walking through the path of ‘light’! Their reception followed at the Market Hall Performing Arts Centre…which has been newly renovated and was an amazing venue, and with Emily and Christopher’s love for the arts it was the perfect spot to hold their reception!
It was great to catch up with my friend Lauren. Emily and I had driven down to visit Lauren the Summer of 2010 in Buffalo and last Christmas we all met again in Toronto! After Emily and Christopher opened up the dance floor with an amazing choreographed first dance… Lauren managed to cut up the rug! And Lauren managed to take a few fun shots of us on the dance floor… (not sure why I’m making that face-I think it’s because my foot hurts!) Emily and Christopher thanks so much for including me in your special day.. sending you best wishes as you start your lives as Mr. and Mrs! Much love, Sarah 🙂
I’m going to leave you with one of the readings that Emily and Christopher had read during their ceremony. It’s a favourite of mine as well!
i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

Disclaimer: I feel really bad, I carried my camera around with me all night..but didn’t take many photos at all. Didn’t get any of me alone in my killer dress and heels…none of me and my date…or other friends at the reception! I suppose you put a girl in a dress and heels when she’s not use to it and well she stops taking photos!
>My photo-friend Ryan… asked me to join him at his friends wedding on May 13… He had been asked to be the ‘official’ photographer, and wanted to know if I could come as his 2nd shooter and date. Weddings are so much fun, and liked the idea of not being the “official” photographer but still be a shooter at a wedding… so told him I was all in!
I had an awesome day… Helen and Mark’s wedding was so beautiful… the weather that day could have been nicer… it was rainy, wet, cold and at one point looked like it was slushy snow!!! But that was the only downer in the day.
I wanted to post some of my favourites from the day…I’m not going to say much.. as I think the photos speak for themselves! ENJOY! 🙂 S
